Produced by @Paseo Stories and @Periplo.Earth, Narrated by Phoebe Nerone

For many young girls in Vietnam, working in the fields or in factories is prioritized, while education is pushed aside, dwindling in the rearview mirror. Tiem was one of many girls who could have become swept up in this cycle, but she was eager and persistent in achieving an education and following her dreams. She dreams to continue her studies.

For Tiem, her education is not the only priority on her plate. Tiem has lived with her mother and grandmother since the passing of her father. She helps her mother provide for the family by every day, herding the cows in her local village every day in the mornings and the afternoons. And after she’s done herding the cows for the day, Tiem will return home and resume her chores such as cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. Aside from her many chores,Tiem is determined to keep up with her schoolwork, and to ensure she is able to fully understand each of her lessons, she attends our tutoring program, where she is able to take part in extra classes in Math, Physics, English Language,Vietnamese Language, and Literature.

Since joining our tutoring program, Tiem has step by step become more confident in herself and her schoolwork. She also feels comfort in the learning environment, filled with supportive teachers as well as fellow classmates. With this warm environment and encouragement, Tiem strives to create a new future for herself, and hopes that one day she’ll be able to attend the university.
